渦旋真空泵的工作腔是由一對型線共軛的渦旋盤副嚙合安裝組成。渦旋盤就是在盤面開有一個或幾個漸開線螺旋槽的渦旋型盤狀結構體。一個靜渦旋盤與一個動渦旋盤相互交錯組裝在一起,動、靜盤之間由防自轉機構保證180°相位差,這樣組成的一對渦旋盤副構成了無油渦旋真空泵的抽氣機構。

靜渦旋盤與動渦旋盤彼此之間在幾條直線( 在橫截面上是幾個點) 上接觸形成幾對月牙形封閉腔,動渦旋盤在曲軸的驅動下繞靜渦旋盤的渦旋體中心運動,接觸點沿渦旋曲面移動實現吸氣、壓縮與排氣。
